Terms of Service
Terms of Service
Draft, last updated November 3, 2026. These terms will be reviewed before Tipstead launches publicly.
These terms are an agreement between you and MaLuHo, the operator of Tipstead, based in British Columbia, Canada. By creating an account you agree to them.
1. The service
Tipstead helps restaurants calculate how tips are shared among staff and keep records of shifts, settlements, adjustments and payments. Tipstead does not hold or move money, does not run payroll, and does not give legal, tax or employment advice.
2. Your responsibilities
- Your tip-sharing rules must comply with the employment standards and tax laws that apply to you. In British Columbia, for example, employers may not keep employees' tips except as the law allows.
- You're responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for reviewing results before paying staff.
- Get any consent required to enter information about your employees, and invite only people who should have access.
- Keep your devices and passkeys secure.
3. Accounts and roles
Each account belongs to one restaurant. The owner controls the restaurant's account, can invite managers and employees, and can delete the restaurant's data.
4. Trial, plans and billing
New restaurants get a 30-day free trial. After that, continued editing requires a paid plan (currently US$15 per month or US$150 per year, per restaurant, plus applicable taxes). Plans renew automatically until cancelled. We'll give at least 30 days' notice before changing prices for an existing plan.
5. Your data
You own the records you enter. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide the service, as described in our Privacy Policy. You can export your data at any time.
6. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the service: no attempts to access other restaurants' data, disrupt the service, or use it for unlawful purposes.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep Tipstead available and accurate, but the service is provided "as is". We may update features and these terms, and will notify you of material changes.
8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law.
9. Ending the agreement
You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms, after notice where reasonable.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
